How to Dress Up as the Purge Villains for Halloween

Purge James Sandin Creepy Mask
Black Suit Blazer
Purge may be Halloween for grown ups, but in this reality we are stuck with regular old Halloween. We can still honor our New Founding Fathers by ensuring that we scare the living daylights out of the common man though, right? Let's get stuck into creating some awesome Purge costumes!

White Nightgown
Let's start with the first movie. The antagonist of that film harassed the protagonists while wearing a truly bizarre elongated mask like the one above, so start with that.

The rest of the costume depends on whether you want to dress as the main villain or one of his female henchmen. If you are going for the henchmen, you will want a cream or white Victorian style nightgown for the body of the costume, like the one on the left. If you want to go as the exceedingly polite psychopath, you'll need a suit  combo like the blazer one on the right combined with black trousers, a blue shirt and a tie. Either way, finish off the costume with a suitably bloody prop weapon like this one.

Smay's Purge Mask Replica
Its also very easy to set up some costumes based on the various hooligans from Purge: Anarchy. Most of the antagonists encountered in Anarchy are simply wearing the sort of dark hoodies and trousers you probably already have, but combined with a super cool mask. A number of sellers make replicas of these masks, such as the 'God' mask above and the 'Cross' mask here which mimics one of the antagonist's makeup. You can also replicate the makeup yourself at home: just follow this video tutorial.

Kiss Me Prom Candy Girl Mask
Pink and White Ruffled Dress
Things always get crazy around election time, and Purge: Election Year is no exception. There are a whole host of cool outfits to imitate as everyone goes all out on what is probably the last ever purge (barring some kind of civil war... The Purge: Civil War anyone?). Let's start with one of the main antagonists of the movie, the thieving rich Candy Girl prom queen who just wants her damn candy bar for god's sake. You can find the mask she wears above, and you'll want to combine it with a short organza pink prom dress like this one

If you can bear to splatter that beautiful dress with fake blood in order to get the 'I just murdered my parents in cold blood' look, that would be perfect, If not you might want to choose a style of dress like the one on the right, which already gives off the 'bloodied skirt' aesthetic when combined with blood spatter on your arms and legs. Here's another one with a red undertone.

Adult's Unisex Uncle
Sam Costume
Lady Liberty Costume

Lady Liberty Headpiece

Finally, we have the bright and colorful murder tourists! The two most memorable of these reprobates are the evil Uncle Sam and the sparkly Statue of Liberty, and its very easy to put together those costumes. Just start with a standard Uncle Sam or Lady Liberty costume like the ones above, and combine it with the matching Uncle Sam mask or glowing cross mask below.

Uncle Sam Purge Masks are Often Available on Etsy!
It is also possible to replicate the masks from Election Year using makeup, which is a good budget option. Here is a video tutorial for creating the Lady Liberty costume mask in makeup form, here is one for creating the look of the prom queen candy girl, and here is one for our favourite evil Uncle Sam. He want you...to purge!

Light Up Purge Mask
So there you have it! That was my guide to putting together the costumes from the original Purge movie, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year. If I have missed out any of your favourite costumes from the movies, let me know in the comments below. Otherwise, I hope you found everything you need!

How to Dress Up as Annabelle (The Conjuring)

Before the Conjuring: Creepy Annabelle Doll Costume
(Available in the UK and EU Here)
Annabelle Creepy Mask
(Available in the UK
and EU Here)
So I'm crazy obsessed with Blumhouse Productions string of hit horror movies, and I've already made posts on Mr Boogie from Sinister and the ghosts and demons from the Insidious movies, so now its time for another great set of movies: The Conjuring series. Specifically, this post features a costume which will allow you to dress up as the terrifying Annabelle, who lurked creepily in the background of both Conjuring movies and even got her own prequel.

This is a very simple costume: above is a set that has everything that you need, including the replica dress, the spooky doll mask and a matching blond wig to finish off the look. If you already have a long white dress or Victorian style night gown (or intend to buy one - this one is quite nice), you can save yourself some money by buying the mask and wig set on its own, which you can find on the right.

Alternatively, if you have a white nightgown and want to save even more money, check out the awesome video tutorial below to learn how to replicate the creepy doll face look with makeup!

There you have it! A few different ways to go about making a creepy Annabelle costume for Halloween. If you enjoyed this post and would like to see more, be sure to check out the rest of blog for all of the best costumes for women and girls on the net! Top Five Unusual Ghost and Spirit Costumes for Women

Forum Novelties Women's Ghostly Soul Seeker Costume
California Costumes Haunting
Beauty Ghost Spirit Costume
Ghost costumes are some of the easiest costumes to pull off, and a classic Halloween look, but as most of the outfits tend to inevitably look the same, it is very hard to do something special with your look. Well fear not! I've hunted down my top five favorite unique and unusual takes on the ghostly spirit that are sure to make any woman stand out from the crowd.

First of all, my personal favorite on this list is Forum Novelties' Ghostly Soul Seeker costume featured above. What makes this costume stand out is the amazing ghost artwork on the bases of the costume as the souls of the tormented reach up towards the wearer like a silent white grim reaper. Each costume comes with the beautiful hooded cloak and the elegant and the haunting dress.

Secondly, featured on the right, is the Haunting Beauty costume by California Costumes. If you are looking for a more specific ghostly look, then here is the chained and bound banshee of old, ready to take on your form. Each set of this costume includes the torn-effect dress, the caped with attached hood, and the creepy chain accessories. You can get a matching white wig here.

InCharacter Costumes Corpse Countess Costume
Lost Soul Gown Adult Costume
I love costumes that are grandiose and over-the-top, and the easiest way to get a fix of the grand is to take a blast from the past. This is why I highly recommend the voluminous and eye-catching ghostly countess costume featured above. The patterns, the lace and the sheer material make this a costume dripping with luxury and one of the most stand-out pieces I've ever seen. I recommend also picking up a petticoat like this one to ensure you get the full volume out of the skirt.

If you like the Victorian ghost look but don't want to have trouble fitting through doors, you might like the lovely and lacy Lost Soul costume on the left. It's a cute old wedding dress/nightdress gown with some lovely embroidering and a very unique look.

Gothic Ghost Adult Costume
Lastly, we have the gothic ghost costume on the right. While it is ostensibly just a basic spooky white dress, I simply love the coloring on the hem of the dress. It looks like it is fading away into smoke in a very effective way. In addition, it makes a great based for costumes based on urban legend ghosts of the graveyard or drowned spirits such as Sadako from the awesome horror movie 'The Ring'. This costume also comes in plus size here.

So there you have it! For those of you who are tired of the usual fare, those were my top five favorite unusual ghost costumes for women this Halloween. I hope you found one you liked and have a lot of fun dressing up. Top Five Ghost Bride Costumes for Halloween

California Costumes Women's Ghostly Bride Adult
What is more terrifying that a woman scorned risen from the dead? Very little in my opinion. That's what makes the terrifying brides of the damned a great costume idea for parties and trick or treating, and there are a lot of wonderful costumes to choose from. I've collected my top five favorite ghost bride costumes in one place for you to check out. Let's take a look! If you are shopping from the UK or EU, find great ghost bride costumes here.

Forum Novelties Women's Deluxe Victorian Ghost Bride Costume
Rubie's Costume Dead
Bride Costume
I'm a big fan of the more Victorian look in ghost brides, since most of the spooky ladies of urban legends got married in times long gone by. The market seems to agree with me too, because there are loads of old-fashioned style ghost bride costumes available out there: here are two of my favorites.

First is the lovely long corser-style ball gown costume made by Forum Novelties, featured above. Its a great option for those of you who want to look stunning without needing to show any skin, in the true Victorian fashion. Each set comes with the beautiful tiered wedding dress and the ghostly veil. You can get the matching dead flowers bouquet here, while the matching wig is available here. Be sure to get a petticoat to go under the dress in order to give the skirt the requisite volume to look truly amazing.

If you like the aesthetic but want something a little less poofy, check out the incredible grey and white lace dress costume on the right. I love how intricate the pattern is, and like the one above it proves you need to show very little to look alluring. Each set of this costume comes with everything you need: the gorgeous lace dress, the light veil, the rotting bouquet, and the matching brooch. You can buy the wig separately here. This costume makes a good couple costume too, as you can get an undead groom costume to match here. This dress costume would also look lovely with some silver lipstick, which you can find here

Smiffy's Women's Gothic Manor Ghost Bride Costume
OURS Women's Halloween Costume
Dress Ghost Bride Cosplay Dress
It's not all grey and white, you can find costumes with a dash of subdued color too if you want to stand out from the rest of the spirit world. Check out, for example, the gorgeous Manor Ghost Bride costume featured above. Each set comes with the elegant and delicate lilac and white dress, the veil, and the dainty bouquet.

If you prefer a more gothic look, you might like the lovely black ghost bride costume on the left. This costume includes the black dress, the veil, and the lovely gothic choker.

So there you have it! Those are my top five favorite ghostly bride costumes for this Halloween. I hope you found one that is perfect for you and have a lot of fun dressing up. If you enjoyed this post, be sure to check out the rest of my blog for even more awesome costume ideas for women of all ages. Happy Halloween!

Mr Boogie/Buhguul Costume for Halloween (Sinister)

1 Button Jacket
Pant Suit Set
I'm a huge fan of the Sinister movie, and while the recent sequel wasn't nearly as good, I still enjoyed it to bits. The series' antagonist, the children-eating Bagul, known to his prey as Mr Boogie, still scares the living daylights out of me, and I figured he would make a cool costume idea for you gals this Halloween.

It's actually a very easy look to pull off, though the prep can take some time. The basic costume is just a black jacket and pants suit set like the one on the right, with a white shirt underneath with the top one or two buttons undone.

Straight Black Hair Wig
The hardest thing is his messed up face, and while there are no Bagul masks out there, there are plenty of guides on how to achieve the look with makeup. Featured above is my favorite of these tutorials, so check it out and give it a go!

Lastly, if you don't already have shoulder length black hair, make up for it with a wig like this one. Voila! That's everything you need to cosplay as Bughuul. I hope you have a lot of fun dressing up and have a great Halloween. Be sure to check out the rest of my blog for even more great costume ideas!

The Bride in Black and the Lipstick-Face Demon Costumes (Insidious)

So, I've done a lot of old movie recently in the run up to Halloween, lets give some attention to more recent ones. I'm a huge fan of James Wan movies, and one of his more recent ones caught my attention for it's very interesting visuals and take on the world beyond ('The Further'). The three Insidious movies feature two hair-raisingly scary antagonists, the Bride in Black and the Lipstick Face Man, and this post is going to be looking at how to cosplay as them both.

Lycra Spandex
Zentai Unitard Catsuit
Let's start with the antagonist of the first movie, the Man with Fire on his Face, the Red-Faced Demon, the Lipstick-Face demon, whatever you want to call him, that is one scary face. Whether people have seen the movie or not, trick-or-treating as this spawn of hell is sure to give people some frights!

Let's start off with the trickiest bit - the face itself. Luckily, it's not as hard as it might seem! Above is an excellent tutorial above which will guide you in creating his creepy face-paint look. Don't forget to finish it off with some fake fangs and some yellow or white contact lenses to get that malicious look in your eyes. Below is a set of contacts that should work perfectly for this look.

Yellow Black Rimmed
Cosmetic Contact Lenses
To get the hair, you'll need to do the makeup over a bald cap (like this one), wrap and secure some black hair extensions around your head and trim them to get the messed up black monk cut look. If you have a spare bit of furry black material lying about, you can glue this to the bald cap to get much the same effect.

Claw Motorcycle Gloves
Once you have the make-up done, that is all of the hard stuff out of the way. His outfit is very simple and minimalist - basically just a black catsuit. You can get a perfect one on the right.

Lastly, you'll need his weapons, i.e. his long and sharp talons. For this, the Freddy Krueger style knife gloves will work perfectly - you can pick them up here. These clawed motorcycle gloves, while not as long, will also do the trick. You can also easily make your own set of claw gloves at home if you have a spare set of leather gloves and some long false nails to paint a metallic black. Voila! Costume completed.

Next up, we have the very disturbed and disturbing Bride in Black, who appears in some capacity to cause hell in all three movies. Like the Lipstick Face Demon, a very important part of this costume is getting the make-up perfect, which thankfully there are a number of tutorials on hand to teach you how to do. Above is my personal favorite.

Partiss Women Lace Bandage Square
Collar Gothic Victorian Dress
HolyClothing Tamara Gothic Godet
Victorian Floral Lace Dress

Once again the costume for this character isn't particularly complicated. Just pick up a black wedding style dress (I've included two above for various budgets, but there are a lot more out there, and pair it with a black veil like the one below and a curly grey wig like this one.

Rasta Imposta Gothic Bride Veil
Youngerbaby 12 Yellow Wax Dipped
White Body LED Taper Candles
If you are looking for some fun accessories to finish off your costume, the most known scene of the Bride in Black is of her holding her candle with a Kubrick stare at the end of the first Insidious movie - why not replicate that with one of the safe flameless candle on the right?

So there you have it! That was my guide to dressing up as the two antagonists of the brilliant Insidious movies. I hope you found everything you need here and have a lot of fun dressing up. Remember not to go too far into the Further now...

The two are very recognisable characters that make great Halloween costumes. If you're looking for some cool Chucky and Tiffany costumes, you can't go wrong with the two above, which are super cute and sex. Leatherface Costumes for Women (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Miss Leatherface Costume
Rubie's Costume The Texas Chainsaw
Massacre 3d Secret Wishes Miss
Leatherface Costume
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the bloodiest and most iconic horror movies of all time, cementing its place in movie legend with a memorable and amazing villain in the form of the chainsaw-happy Leatherface. He makes a great costume idea for men and women alike, and there are some really cute and spooky costumes out there for girls planning on going trick-or-treating.

If you are looking for a costume based on the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Miss Leatherface costume above is perfect! Each set comes with the super sexy dress and shirt, as well as a chainsaw shaped purse for you to keep your money in, which is pretty handy. Alternatively you can replace the chainsaw purse with a prop chainsaw that makes real sounds, which you can find here! Pretty cool.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Leather
Face Deluxe Overhead Mask
If you're a fan of the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D movie, then you might prefer the cute red Miss Leatherface 3D costume on the right. I love the colors and the faux leather look, it's sure to make any trick-or-treater look absolutely amazing.

Once you have the costume, feel free to spice it up with some accessories like the chainsaw I mentioned earlier, or some killer heels. The most iconic thing about Leatherface, however, is his, um, well, leather face, so no costume is complete without adding that to the mix. If you want an easy option, check out the overhead latex mask on the left, which will fix you up perfectly. Alternatively, if you are willing to spend a little more time going all out and creating something your friends will talk about for years to come, take a look at the amazing Leatherface makeup tutorial below and learn how to create an incredibly effective look.

So there you have it! That was everything you need in order to dress up as Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre this Halloween. I hope you enjoyed this post and have a ton of fun partying away in the season of horror. Ghostface Costumes for Women (Scream)

Scream Ghost Face Gown Adult Costume
FunWorld Adult Scream Costume
(Available in the UK and EU here)
Do you like Scary Movies? What's your favorite? If it's one of the Scream series, then you've come to the right place - why not dress up as Ghostface for Halloween? It's iconic, classic, and instantly recognizable. If that sounds like fun, then I recommend on of the two costumes featured here - a more form-fitting feminine one above or the true-to-the-movie unisex version on the right. Both of them comes with the robe/dress and the matching Scream mask.

Once you have the basic costume down, there are loads of fun accessories you can get to finish off the look. Both costumes would be enhanced by a pair of black gloves, and a fake knife is an absolute must. I hope you have a lot of fun dressing up, and remember to play by the rules!

How to Dress as Carrie for Halloween

Adult Prom Nightmare 80s Horror Film Costume
So, a remake of Carrie came out recently, reigniting the passion for this classic 80s horror flick. It's back in style as a Halloween costume, and already they've released the perfect outfit for all of you budding Carrie cosplayers, featured up above. Each set of this costume comes with the blood stained dress and the matching wig. That's pretty much everything you need, so pick it up and have fun trick-or-treating!

Japanese Onryō Costumes: Kayako (The Grudge)

Womens Sleeveless Round
Neck Chiffon Long Maxi Dress
The scariest horror movie antagonists in my opinion are the Japanese Onryō, vengeful spirits lashing out at the living, usually represented by undead white-dressed and long haired women. This post is dedicated to one of the most famous in these in the west, Kayako from The Grudge. I've also done a post on Sadako from The Ring, which you can check out here

iLoveCos Women's Japanese Wigs
Long Black Straight Cosplay Wig
Unlike Sadako, whose dress has short little sleeves (likely because she died younger) Kayako's creepy funeral dress in a round-necked sleeveless number like the one on the left. If you want a dress with a longer skirt, you can find one here.

Once you have the dress, all you need to finish the look is some effective ghostly make-up. Check out the tutorial at the top of the page for a great guide on how to get her sunken eyed, white-faced look. With the make up done, just let your hair down if you already have long black hair, or pick up a wig like the one on the left, and you'll be good to go. Have fun!

Japanese Onryō Costumes: Samara/Sadako (The Ring)

The Ring is one of the first horror movies I ever saw, and I couldn't sleep for a good 7 days afterwards. Japanese horror has a subtle focus on atmosphere and aesthetics that western horrors don't quite live up to, which in my opinion makes them pants-wettingly scary. The most famous icon of Japanese horror in the west in the evil daemon that is the onryō, the vengeful spirit of the dead, usually represented by a stringy haired ghost woman all in white. It's a scary look, and Samara Morgen (or Sadako as she is known in Japan), and makes a great Halloween costume.

Gothic Ghost Adult Costume
The basic costume is easy enough to do - just buy yourself a plain white chiffon maxi-dress like the one below on the left if you live in the UK or EU, or the one below on the right if you live in the USA, and let your hair down, or pick up a long black wig like this one if you don't already have the right hair style and color. If you want to be really realistic, take a walk through a muddy field in the rain in order to get some damp stains on it like you actually have been stuck down a well. Alternatively, you can pick up the 'pre-stained' costume above. After that, just follow the tutorial at the top of the page to get Samara's rotting face look down perfectly! There you, easy-peasy. Have fun!

Dressing up as Freddy Krueger for Women (Nightmare on Elm Street)

Nightmare on Elm Street Secret Wishes Miss Krueger Costume
(Available in the UK and EU here)
I'm making my way through all of the horror classics I missed out on by virtue of not having been born yet, and last night was Nightmare on Elm Street! Freddy Krueger is one of the most iconic slasher villains of all time, and makes a fantastic idea for a Halloween party or trick-or-treat outing. If that sounds like fun, you need to check out the cool Secret Wishes Miss Krueger costume featured above. Each set comes with everything you need: the slash effect stripy dress, the fedora hat and the knife-fingers slasher glove. Pretty awesome!

Once you have the costume, you can really go all out by doing up your face with the same kind of burn victim effect which Freddy had. Above is a great tutorial on how to achieve a fantastic look using things you can get at any drug store, so check it out! If you want something quick and easy though, here is a Freddy mask you can pick up.

Dreamgirl Bloodsucking Beauty
California Costumes Women's
Blood Thirsty Beauty Costume
One of the most iconic stalkers of the night in history is the blood-sucking vampire of old, a timeless seductress who can make anyone hide under the covers. It's this timeless quality that always makes them a perfect look for any Halloween party or trick-or-treating outing, and as a result there are a wealth of vampire costumes out there to choose from. To help you out, I've narrowed them all down to my top five personal favorites and collected them in one place for you to check out. Let's get started! If you are shopping from the UK, head here.

Dreamgirl Just One Bite

I love how glittery the sequins on the top of the dress are! If you want something a little more unusual, you can get a similar style of costume in pink and black right here.

On the right is a costume with a more mature, velvety material and bold deep red color by California Costumes, who always make fantastic quality outfits. The matching wig is available here. This costume would look especially amazing paired with a lacy black gothic choker like this one

Love lace? Me too, which is why I've included the gorgeous Just One Bite costume seen on the left. With flocked satin, velvet and black lace, this is one of the most luxurious costumes you can get, and for a very reasonable price. The corset top of the dress has padded underwiring designed to accentuate your figure and keep you looking wonderful all night long. The split skirt is super sexy too. Be sure to pick up some matching fangs like these in order to finish off the look.

InCharacter Costumes Vampiress Of Versailles Adult Full Length Ball Gown Costume
Dear-Lover Women's Halloween
Vixen Vampire Costume
If you like your costumes with an overwhelming sense of grandeur and class, then don't settle for anything less than the absolutely incredibly Vampiress of Versailles costume above. Its a stunning ball gown in a very French 'Mary Antoinette' style with gothic overtones than would make an amazing Halloween costume, as well as working well for Masquerades. It comes with a petticoat too, so you'll get that full luscious volume with the skirt. If you like this style but want a shorter skirt, be sure to check out this mini-dress alternative.

Last but not least, for something a little more slinky and subtle but still not out of place at a Halloween dinner party, take a look at the Dear-Lover Vixen Vampire costume on the right. The bat-wing style sleeves are detachable, so you can customize this costume to your tastes.
