I love the new 3D animated Disney movies - they've all been such hits! Tangled is probably my second favorite after Frozen, and Rapunzel is such a cutie with an adorable fashion sense (and great hair!). I'm sure that lot's of little princesses out there are looking for a perfect Rapunzel costume now that Halloween is almost around the corner, so to help you out I've narrowed it down to my top six (I couldn't just choose five like I normally do - there's too many good options!). First up, featured at the top of the page, is the official Tangled princess costume! It's a beautiful piece with shimmery material and a matching tiara to boot - wonderful value! A similar style of costume inspired by the movie is the Sparkle Deluxe costume on the left - I just love the little portrait of Rapunzel on the bodice. Each set of this costume comes with the lovely dress and the cute ribbon headband. If you just want something basic and simple like her primary costume from the movie, then the MyLittleLizShop costume on the right is a pretty perfect replica of her outfit. It has sequin detailing on the sleeves and bodice, so it'll sparkle when it hits the light! Pretty cool. Each set of this costume comes with a neck ribbon and matching headband.

Did you know they even made a costume for the briefly seen Tangled wedding gown? Well now you do, so take a peek at it because it is simply beautiful! It is a very classic matrimonial look with a splash of pink and pretty patterns to finish it off. Each set of this incredible costume comes with the dress, a petticoat and the veil headpiece. That's everything you need!

For something with a more queen aesthetic, the regal costume on the right might be perfect for the (unofficial) ruler of your household. I love the puffy sleeves and the billowing skirt, it looks pretty impressive.

Last but not least, for an unofficial costume which closely follows her original movie look, take a peek at the Paradise Tower Princess costume on the left. I really like the laced up bodice style of this costume, as well as the multiple tiers on the skirt. It's insanely pretty in my opinion.

Here's a real tragedy to all the Tangled fans out there: finding a good Mother Gothel costume to wear for Halloween, a convention or a costume party is seriously hard. Well, fear not! This post is going to be looking at the bits and bobs you'll need to put together the costume from scratch - it's pretty easy and the end result will look amazing! 

Red Gown Costume

First of all, you will need Mother Gothel's iconic red dress. I recommend you pick up the Renaissance red gown on the red to act as a substitute; it's perfect color-wise and pretty close in terms of pattern and decor. Here's a similar dress without the yellow adornments on the shoulder and more bohemian sleeves. One you have the dress, you just need to add a thick, velvet black cloak with a hood on top of it: you can find a perfect one right here!

Shopping for a good Gothel costume for kids is a little harder as there are fewer dresses that really work, but the one on the left, or this dress here or this ball gown, combined with a suitable velvet cloak like this one will look pretty good.

Once the costume is ready, it is time to finish off the look with some accessories and finishing touches. At the top of this post you can find a beautiful Mother Gothel wig that will save you a lot of time with a curling iron (not mention a lot of hair damage!), and here you can find a wonderful tutorial on how to do your makeup like Mother Gothel. Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time - great characters, catchy songs, and a lot of wonderful humor that really made it an enjoyable experience. If you have a bigger budget and want to find the absolute perfect Rapunzel costume for Halloween or your Disney princess costume party, then you can't go wrong with the utterly stunning Rapunzel inspired cosplay ball gown featured above. It comes with its own petticoat, so you will get that lovely lift you see in the photo!

There are also a number of costumes within a lower price range which aim to stick as closely to the dress Rapunzel actually wears in the movie, and they can be really stunning. The closest to the movie dress I've seen is the one on the left, but if your skin tone suit a darker color, the one on the right is what you need!
