We've had a new Tarzan movie out this year, complete with adverts and posters that look like they are trying to sell you men's deodorant. With every popular movie comes a great set of costumes, so lets look at some costumes that have been made for the female protagonist of the Tarzan films, Jane. 

First up, featured at the top of this post, is a blast from the past with the cute southern belle style day dress worn by Jane in the original animated Disney movie. This is quite a hard costume to come across as Jane didn't get turned into a Disney Princess like many other Disney protagonists of the era, but there are a number of dedicated cosplay companies which will make it. The one above comes with the dress, a blue tie, the cute umbrella, and a pair of gloves

If you are a fan of the new movie, then check out the outfit on the left for a replica of Jane's costume from the Legend of Tarzan. Every set of this costume comes with the mini-dress, hat, and matching belt. You can get a hanging chimpanzee plush like the one in the picture here!

Halloween is fast approaching, and I'm sure there will be lots of Disney characters and Princesses hitting the street. I'm hoping to see a few more of the more unusual ones, like the fiery and beautiful Esmeralda from one of my favorite 2D Disney movies ever, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The upper part of Esmeralda's outfit is a white puffy sleeved peasant-style shirt, which are quite common and available for a variety of ages and budgets. Above is a cute off the shoulder design with beautiful frills. Check it out!

Next up, we have Esmeralda's flowing and beautiful purple skirt. There are quite a few long purple skirts for kids out there that would work perfectly - my favorite is the ruffle edged skirt above, which adds a very unique flair to the look. For an authentic look, you'll want a dance skirt. On the right is such a skirt, that you can find in purple at the link. These are especially cool in how much volume you get when you spin around and dance!

Between the skirt and top Esmeralda wears a blue corset. Obviously they don't make those for kids, but a great alternative is to pick up a jangly blue belly dance hip scarf like the one on the left. Alternatively, you can buy some blue satin fabric and tie or stitch it around her waist to form a blue band similar to Esmeralda's corset.

Last but not least, you'll need to do up her hair! This is easy enough if she already has long black hair: if not, you can get a cute wig here. Esmeralda also wears a purple headband or scarf - you can pick up a similar one here.

How to Dress like Disney's Maleficent (Kids and Teens)

If your daughter loved the classic Sleeping Beauty movie by Disney or the new Maleficent movie, then why not suggest dressing up as the daunting but beautiful Maleficent this Halloween? It's an iconic look that is sure to make her stand out from all the bog standard witches and sorceresses out there!

If that sounds like fun, you'll need to pick out one of the two cute Maleficent costumes featured on the right and up above. They are both very unique looking and despite being in slightly different styles both very evocative of both depictions of Maleficent. The one above comes with the dress, a detachable brooch and the matching horns, while the one on the right includes the dress and brooch.

There are plenty of accessories which you can use to finish off your Maleficent costume too. Her gorgeous staff, which you can see in the picture to the right, is available here. You can get matching Maleficent gloves here, and if you are going for Maleficent before she loses her wings, you can find some beautiful black feathery wings here. I also think it is a cute idea to have a plush crow toy or a funger puppet like the one on the left to represent Diablo, Maleficent's trusted servant and spy (and awesome fiery dragon in the re-imagining!). With that done, all you need is some scary makeup (the tutorial below works very well for both versions of Maleficent) and you'll be good to go!

It's a song as old as time, it's a look loved by children of many generations, it's the gorgeous costume of Princess Belle from the Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast! All of these costumes are based on the flowing, luscious yellow ball gown that Belle wears during the most famous scene from the movie, where she dances in the ball room with the now-gentlemanly Beast. It's an iconic look that everyone is sure to recognise, and there are plenty of costumes based on or inspired by it.

Many of these costumes are officially licensed, such as the adorable Princess Belle costume gown featured at the top of this page, a dainty little number adorned with delicate pink roses and a portrait of the Princess herself. The Storybook Belle Prestige costume on the right is also an official piece of Disney Merchandise, which takes an unusual choice of decorating the skirt of the dress with imagery from the movie. It's a very unique and beautiful look! This costume comes with both the dress as well as the matching headpiece.

There are many unofficial Belle costumes out there too, and they are no less gorgeous! One of my favorites is the 5 Star Yellow Beauty costume above, an elegant and feminine combination of soft organza and delicate red roses finished off with sparkling golden sequin. Any girl is bound to stand out in this lovely dress.

If you really want to go all out, there are a number of party dress, ball gown style costumes out there that will make your little girl feel like she is actually out there on the dance floor with the Beast! For example, the dress above by MyLittleLizShop is a near perfect replica of Belle's ball gown which she wears during the Beauty and Beast song ball dance, and it looks simply stunning.

For something equally beautiful in a different style (but still easily recognizable as inspired by Beauty and the Beast!) is the lovely party dress from the official Enchanted Evening Dress collection, featured on the left. I love the way that the material is pulled in at the top, it's so pretty!

To start us off, above are two similar but distinct official costumes by Disguise, sparkling number available in both Classic and Deluxe forms! Both are excellent replicas of Jasmine's Arabian Princess garb with cute little portraits of the Princess on the neckline and puffy sheer sleeves that make this costume look incredibly special.

If you like those two costumes, I also recommend the costume on the left, which is in a very similar style but with a more detailed pattern on the bodice and sports a very pretty set of fluffy sheer sleeves. This costume would look particularly good with a set of sparkling official Disney Jasmine shoes and an Aladdin tiara.

For a similar style of costume that is a little more suited to colder weather and younger Disney fans, I recommend taking a look at the long sleeved Arabian Princess costume on the right. I love how shiny the material is, and the top is stretchy to help younger kids put it on and take it off.

Jasmine's signature look is often available in colors other than teal, which is a fun way to mix things up a little. Below is a wonderful lilac and gold number with incredible embroidered patterns and a glittering, shiny material that looks very luxurious. I highly recommend it, and especially like the multi-tiered style of the pants, it's quite an eye-catching look that is sure to make your little princess standout from the rest of the crowd. I actually find that the unofficial costumes do a better job of capturing Ariel's look from the classic animated movie, so I've started us off with two unofficial costumes that look great!

At the top of this post is a costume which is wonderful for younger kids, a colorful but elegant dress costume with a mermaid shaped tail. It comes with a cute matching headband too! For slightly older girls, the sparkling Sweet Little Mermaid costume on the right is a fantastic look. It has a varied set of textures which make it incredibly unique; any little princess is sure to stand-out from the crowd! For both of these costumes, you can get the matching red hair wig here.

My personal favorite is the incredible MyLittleLizShop costume above. Each set of this costume comes with the gorgeous blue and purple dress with flower appliqué, a neck ribbon and the matching headband.

For some official Disney party dress costumes, our final two costumes are a real treat! The one on the right has an adorable mini-floral portrait of Ariel decorating it and an adorable fluffy tutu style skirts with lots of volume! Meanwhile, the one of the left is based on Ariel's above-the-waves Princess ball gown. It's gorgeous! Both are very unique and are sure to make any little girl feel special for her big royal day.

The main type of Princess Tiana costume available out there is her gorgeous green leafy wedding dress. If you like your ball gowns all green, then you should take a look at the official sparkle costume at the top of this page. There are quite a few costume accessories you can get for this outfit too, such as a beautiful tiara, a sceptre, and some lovely shoes.

The typical Tiana wedding gown look is a two-tiered skirt with the top being a leafy green and the bottom skirt a daisy-like cream. It's a very pretty color combination, and it's the look most Princess and the Frog costumes go for. If want a very accurate costume, the Classic costume on the right is the best one to go for, whereas if you want something with a little unique patterning, the one above is a perfect choice. 

I also very much like the adorable costume on the left, a lovely little number with the portrait of Princess Tiana on the chest. Little girls are sure to love it!

Last but not least, for a cute costume inspired by the Princess and the Frog mythology but sporting a look which is different and unique, check out the super cute Lilly Pad Princess costume below. I love the multi-tiered skirt and the delicate green material - it's is incredibly beautiful Each set of this costume also comes with a matching hair bow! This costume would benefit from a kid's petticoat like this one to give the skirt some lift.

I love the new 3D animated Disney movies - they've all been such hits! Tangled is probably my second favorite after Frozen, and Rapunzel is such a cutie with an adorable fashion sense (and great hair!). I'm sure that lot's of little princesses out there are looking for a perfect Rapunzel costume now that Halloween is almost around the corner, so to help you out I've narrowed it down to my top six (I couldn't just choose five like I normally do - there's too many good options!). I've done lots of post on the Disney Princesses, but what about our favorite Princess-in-Waiting? If your little lady is looking for the perfect Sofia the first costume, whether its for a Birthday party, Halloween or just general dress up play, you should check out these three lovely costumes.

The costume at the top of this page is her classic dress which she wear in the TV show. It's a beautiful lilac dress with a pretty two tiered skirt, and super pretty puffy sleeves. 

The other two costumes are inspired by her television show costume and are frequently seen worn by the Sofia the First dolls and toys, so she is sure to love both of these too! These costumes have lovely billowing skirts, which would benefit from a petticoat or hoop skirt to keep their shape and give them life. You can find a perfect petticoat for these costumes here.
