How to Dress like Disney's Maleficent (Kids and Teens)

Disguise Disney Maleficent Movie Christening Black Gown Girls Deluxe Costume

Gown Tween Deluxe Costume
If your daughter loved the classic Sleeping Beauty movie by Disney or the new Maleficent movie, then why not suggest dressing up as the daunting but beautiful Maleficent this Halloween? It's an iconic look that is sure to make her stand out from all the bog standard witches and sorceresses out there!

If that sounds like fun, you'll need to pick out one of the two cute Maleficent costumes featured on the right and up above. They are both very unique looking and despite being in slightly different styles both very evocative of both depictions of Maleficent. The one above comes with the dress, a detachable brooch and the matching horns, while the one on the right includes the dress and brooch.

Folkmanis Mini Raven Finger Puppet
There are plenty of accessories which you can use to finish off your Maleficent costume too. Her gorgeous staff, which you can see in the picture to the right, is available here. You can get matching Maleficent gloves here, and if you are going for Maleficent before she loses her wings, you can find some beautiful black feathery wings here. I also think it is a cute idea to have a plush crow toy or a funger puppet like the one on the left to represent Diablo, Maleficent's trusted servant and spy (and awesome fiery dragon in the re-imagining!). With that done, all you need is some scary makeup (the tutorial below works very well for both versions of Maleficent) and you'll be good to go!

So there you have it! That's my mini guide for kids and teens to dress up as Maleficent. I hope you found everything that you need and that she has a great time trick-or-treating! How to Dress Up as Princess Aurora (Disney's Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent)

Sassy Disney Aurora Prestige Adult Costume
For all you girls out there who need your beauty sleep, why not go all the way and dress up as Sleeping Beauty for Halloween or your next costume party? There are lots of truly breath-taking costumes for you to choose from, and I'm going to show you some of my favorites, as well as some matching accessories to go with them, right here. Let's get started! If you are shopping from the UK or EU, you can find Princess Aurora costumes here.

Aurora Sleeping Beauty Costume
First of all, there are a number of different looks you can go for if you are dressing up as the original Princess Aurora or Briar Rose from the animated Disney movie (see below if you are looking for the Maleficent look!). If short and sassy is your thing, then you might like to check out the shimmering Sassy Prestige Aurora costume featured at the top of this post. Each set comes with the amazing dress, a petticoat to give the skirt some lift, a pair of glovelettes, a choker, and the matching headband.

Dreamgirl Sleeping Princess, Pink
If, on the other hand, you want to stay as close as possible to the source material, take a look at the ankle length Sleeping Beauty gown on the right. It's truly gorgeous! You also get a matching choker and the tiara with this cute costume set.

For something that combines the best of both worlds, I'd like to recommend the stunning DreamGirl Sleeping Princess costume on the left, which has a really unique and interesting looking asymmetrical skirt and lovely puffy sheer sleeves. You even get the matching crown headpiece with each set.

You can finish off the look of all three of these beautiful costume with a cute Aurora wig in the style of the original movie's golden locks - you can find a perfect one here!

If you are looking to dress up as Princess Aurora from Maleficent rather than the original, you can achieve the look with amazing golden ball gown costume above. I love the rose pattern on the skirt! This costume comes with both the dress and the beautiful gold leaf wreath headpiece. You can get some beautiful matching sparkling shoes to go with it here.

Disguise Disney Maleficent Aurora Wig
Top off the costume with the wig on the right if you don't already have long blond hair. If you do, then just style your hair with curls! If you are looking for some cute ideas to finish off the look, here is a great tutorial on how to do Princess Aurora's makeup which would work for both iterations of Sleeping Beauty.

So there you have it! My favorite costumes for dressing up as Sleeping Beauty, both in her original form and her re-imagining in Maleficent. I hope you found one that is perfect for you and have a lot of fun dressing up! If you liked this post, be sure to check out the rest of this blog for even more costume ideas for women! How to Dress up as Maleficent (Disney's Sleeping Beauty)

Leg Avenue Disney 3Pc.Maleficent Dress Stay Up Collar and Head Piece
Original Maleficent Costume
This post is in anticipation of the upcoming Disney movie Maleficent, featuring the villainess from Disney's Sleeping Beauty as the main character in a re-imagining of the classic fairy tale. Maleficent is one of my favorite movie villains: she scary, stylish, and if you get on her bad side, she'll curse you or turn into a dragon and flat out eat you. Brr. She's also really fun to dress up as for Halloween or any villains themed party, so here's some of my favorite Maleficent costumes. If you are shopping from the UK or EU, you can find Maleficent costumes here.

First up is the slinky velvet look black costume above which looks to recreate her outfit from the original Sleeping Beauty movie. This costume comes with everything you see in the picture (aside from the raven - you'll have to catch one yourself!); the dress, the headpiece and the collar.

Charades Women's Witchy
Woman Costume Set
If you want the original animated movie look with a bit more of a fiery punch, take a look at the beautiful, mysterious and yet terrifying costume on the right. Each costume comes with the amazing dress, collar necklace and horned headpiece.

If you want to try a different look, costumes already exist in the style of Angelina Jolie's depicting of Maleficent in the live-action movie. On the left is the most true-to-the-source-material costume that I've discovered (it looks soooo good!).

So there you have it, my favorite Maleficent costumes - hope you found one that you liked, and have a lot of fun dressing up.
