Suicide Squad is many things, and the main thing is stylish. Harley Quinn was already the comic book world's sweetheart, but now she has a new outfit and is joined by another bad ass woman with an improbably effective weapon, the brooding Katana! If you fancy cosplaying as members of the suicide squad this Halloween, I highly recommend the costumes above. You can get the matching wig for the Harley costume here, while the Katana wig is available here. Don't forget to pick up their weapons too, a baseball bat for Harley and a...katana...for...Katana.

That's not the only Harley Quinn costume from the movie, however, you can also get the orange jumpsuit that Harley wears while detained in the maximum security prison, featured above. How to Dress Up as the Purge Villains for Halloween

Purge may be Halloween for grown ups, but in this reality we are stuck with regular old Halloween. We can still honor our New Founding Fathers by ensuring that we scare the living daylights out of the common man though, right? Let's get stuck into creating some awesome Purge costumes!

White Nightgown

Let's start with the first movie. The antagonist of that film harassed the protagonists while wearing a truly bizarre elongated mask like the one above, so start with that. 

The rest of the costume depends on whether you want to dress as the main villain or one of his female henchmen. If you are going for the henchmen, you will want a cream or white Victorian style nightgown for the body of the costume, like the one on the left. If you want to go as the exceedingly polite psychopath, you'll need a suit  combo like the blazer one on the right combined with black trousers, a blue shirt and a tie. Either way, finish off the costume with a suitably bloody prop weapon like this one.

Its also very easy to set up some costumes based on the various hooligans from Purge: Anarchy. Most of the antagonists encountered in Anarchy are simply wearing the sort of dark hoodies and trousers you probably already have, but combined with a super cool mask. A number of sellers make replicas of these masks, such as the 'God' mask above and the 'Cross' mask here which mimics one of the antagonist's makeup. You can also replicate the makeup yourself at home: just follow this video tutorial.

Things always get crazy around election time, and Purge: Election Year is no exception. There are a whole host of cool outfits to imitate as everyone goes all out on what is probably the last ever purge (barring some kind of civil war... The Purge: Civil War anyone?). Let's start with one of the main antagonists of the movie, the thieving rich Candy Girl prom queen who just wants her damn candy bar for god's sake. You can find the mask she wears above, and you'll want to combine it with a short organza pink prom dress like this one. 

If you can bear to splatter that beautiful dress with fake blood in order to get the 'I just murdered my parents in cold blood' look, that would be perfect, If not you might want to choose a style of dress like the one on the right, which already gives off the 'bloodied skirt' aesthetic when combined with blood spatter on your arms and legs. Here's another one with a red undertone.

Finally, we have the bright and colorful murder tourists! The two most memorable of these reprobates are the evil Uncle Sam and the sparkly Statue of Liberty, and its very easy to put together those costumes. Just start with a standard Uncle Sam or Lady Liberty costume like the ones above, and combine it with the matching Uncle Sam mask or glowing cross mask below.

It is also possible to replicate the masks from Election Year using makeup, which is a good budget option. They made a Deadpool costume for women! This was a surprise to me, as normally the ladies have to wait years to get a fitting version of superhero costumes, if it ever comes out at all. It looks pretty awesome too! Each set of the above costume comes with the bodysuit and detachable mask. This costume would work really well paired with these dragon ninja katana swords and these Deadpool boot covers. Don't bother bringing guns, you'll just end up leaving them in the car.

If you want a mask which hides your eyes, I would pick up the mask on the right separately. If you want a less shiny bodysuit, then I recommend you check out this unisex version, which has the advantage of a slightly more accurate mask.

So I'm crazy obsessed with Blumhouse Productions string of hit horror movies, and I've already made posts on Mr Boogie from Sinister and the ghosts and demons from the Insidious movies, so now its time for another great set of movies: The Conjuring series. Specifically, this post features a costume which will allow you to dress up as the terrifying Annabelle, who lurked creepily in the background of both Conjuring movies and even got her own prequel.

This is a very simple costume: above is a set that has everything that you need, including the replica dress, the spooky doll mask and a matching blond wig to finish off the look. If you already have a long white dress or Victorian style night gown (or intend to buy one - this one is quite nice), you can save yourself some money by buying the mask and wig set on its own, which you can find on the right.

How to DIY Dress as Misty from Pokemon

Decent Misty costumes are actually quite hard to come by, as I learned when I was trying to make a costume for my very first anime convention back in my teens. I wouldn't ever order something pre-made, as they tend to be cheap knock-offs by companies that mysteriously disappear two week later, and I've never seen any with good reviews. Luckily, this is a super easy costume to make from ordinary clothing, many of which you may have lying about the house. This is how to do it!

Red Solid Suspenders

First up, Misty rocks a cool yellow tank top with a cropped bottom, pretty much exactly like the one on the right. It's fine to substitute this with a yellow t-shirt if it's cold out, the look is still very recognizable. Just combine your choice with a set of red suspenders like the one on the left.

I'll be really surprised if any of you didn't already have a set of high waisted denim shorts at home, so if you do that's half of the costume sitting about in your closet already! If not though, this is a great set to use. Attach the suspenders to the shorts and voila, that is the basic costume completed.

Finally, just finish off the look with your basic accessories. If you already have red hair, just give yourself a messy side ponytail, while everyone else would benefit from the awesome wig at the top of the page. Misty also wears Vans-style red and white shoes, and I've featured a very similar pair below. Why not finish off the look with a replica pokeball?

Ready to head off into the dark and solve some mysteries? Who better to go as but the intelligent and savvy, but hopelessly short sighted Velma from Scooby Doo? Pretty much every generation has grown up with one version of the show or another, and the basic look of the characters has always been the same, so it makes for an instantly recognizable and nostalgic costume. While you can get some great premade costumes out there, such as the two above, this is a very easy costume to make out of normal clothing. You'll probably have some of the things you need already, so just fill in the blanks!

Bright orange fashion was all the rage a few years back, and you might still have an old orange sweater hanging in your closet. If so, fantastic, because that'll be the centerpiece of your costume. If not, you can pick a perfect Velma style jumper above. You can get an orange jumper for kids here.

Next up, you will need a red pleated skirt or a skater-style skirt in red, to go with the jumper. A bit of an odd combo, but I guess Velma isn't the fashionista of the group, and hey, she pulls it off. If you don't already have one lying around, the one on the right is a good shout.

That is the basics of the costume. With those in place, you'll need to highlight the look with some great accessories. Velma wears knee high orange socks, so be sure to pick those up here. You can replace them with orange tights or longer socks if you anticipate being a little chilly. As for shoes, red or black flat Mary Jane style shoes are perfect, and you can find some wonderful red ones that fit the costume right here. And don't forget the glasses! You won't be able to see without your glasses!

If you fancy going all out, you can do up your make up in such a way as to totally enhance the costume. The tutorial above is a great way to start, plus it has guides to other Scooby Doo characters too. I also like this video tutorial on how to make fake make-up freckles, which would work well with Velma's look.

Finally, if you don't already have a short brown bob, have no fear! You can just tie your hair up and add a wig to replicate the hair style without having to take a pair of scissors to your head. The one on the right works well, and brown bob wigs are available at pretty much any party store.
