While we're on a Marvel Comics costume spree, here is a wonderful costume that you can use to dress up as the deadly Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy! You can find some great licensed makeup here, which includes green cream face paint. To help you out, below is a truly epic makeup tutorial that will teach you how to get that ridge-tattoo look that the character has. If you don't already have long brown hair, you can get the look with this Gamora wig.

The Force has awakened once more after years of pressing the snooze button, and that means it's time for a new Star Wars costume post! You can get a whole load of the new characters in women's costume or unisex version, starting with the mysterious and powerful protagonist herself, Rey, featured above. Each of these costumes comes with the top, pants, detached sleeves and leather-look cuff, and belt with pouch. Her desert staff weapon is available here, and a more three dimensional version of her matching side bag as well as her desert veil from the beginning of the movie are also available.

This one is a very cute option for kids who fell in love with R2D2's successor, the adorable BB-8. As well as looking super cool, the costume above on the left is very easy to set up: it has a little fan inside which keeps it inflated. If that's not your style, you can get a non-inflatable version of the costume here. There's sadly no exact equivalent for adults, but you can get a super cute BB-8 skater dress like the one above, which comes with the dress and the matching headpiece.

There sadly isn't a dedicated Finn costume for women yet, but the kids of both genders should have no trouble with the cute Finn costume featured above. Adults can try out the men's costume: its a bit broad shouldered but it can be made to work! Be careful in choosing your size: air on the small side.

Finally, let's get on to some villains. First of all, Phasma! Because after Game of Thrones Gwendoline Christie seems to have been type-cast as a boss-armor wearing sort, and that is awesome. The costume above comes with the armor and matching belt, a two piece helmet and the cap. The matching stormtrooper blaster you see in the picture is available here.

Finally, to indulge the emo-uh-I mean dark sider within us all, on the left we have Kylo Ren! Each of these creepy costume sets includes the dark robe, a hooded cape, the belt, and the iconic mask. You can get his awesome three bladed lightsaber here, and some (presumably lightsaber-proof) Kylo Ren gloves to hold it with here.

Whether you are having an anime themed Halloween or heading off to a convention, one of the best looks you can opt for are the two leading ladies of one of the greatest and most iconic anime of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Asuke and Rei are some of the most recognizable characters in anime, and there are some really cool costumes to choose from. 

Starting off with the demure but hard working Rei Ayanami, there are two types of costume available for her. First is her plug-suit for her EVA, featured above, and the second is her school uniform costume. Both are super cute, and very sexy! Any girl is sure to look amazing in either one.

Regardless of which costume you choose, you'll need to finish it off with some amazing blue hair - unless you are lucky enough to already sport a blue bob, you can find the perfect wig here.

If you're more of a fiery personality, why not kit yourself out at the slightly crazy but always awesome Asuka? Once again, you can pick up an amazing replica of her EVA plug suit, featured above. This shiny bodysuit is very form fitting and looks amazing. 

If you happen to have long red hair, you're in luck - just give yourself a pair of mini-pigtails on top and you are good to go. If not, the cool and colorful orange wig on the left is perfect for this costume. You can find Asuka's red sci-fi hair pins to go with the wig here.

How to Dress as a Little Sister (Bioshock)

I'm a huge fan of the Bioshock games, for their amazing stories, fantastic gameplay and iconic visuals. I especially love the adorable Little Sisters (I've never been able to play as an evil character, they are just too cute!). They have a very recognizable look that would make a great costume for both conventions and Halloween, so that is why I made this post. Let's take a look at how to dress up as the Little Sisters!

First of all, you'll need the cute blue stripy dress that the Sisters wear, and as look would have it you can find a perfect replica of it on the right. It even comes with a pretty white hair bow to do your hair up with. 

Now that you have the costume, you'll need to do up your make-up to look gaunt and spooky just like the ADAM guzzling cuties themselves. At the bottom of this post is a fantastic tutorial on how to get the Little Sister look, so follow that and you'll look great!

Beyond the makeup, you'll need to give your eyes that creepy, ADAM overdose yellow glow. You can achive this with what is know as full-eye or 'sclera' contact lenses - there's a great yellow pair on the left that will work perfectly for this look.

Last but not least, you'll need the Little Sister's iconic ADAM syringe to go searching for fallen angels with. Sadly no one is selling this prop on the net, but it's not actually that tough to make for yourself. Here's a fantastic guide to making you own Little Sister syringe with bits and bobs from your garage.

If you are as much in love with the Tron movies as I am, why not dress up as Quorra, the last ISO from the sequel? It is a very easy look to pull off - to start you off, above is the perfect jumpsuit to form the base of her outfit. I'm a hug Doctor Who fan, and my personal favorite Doctor is the 11th, portrayed by the quirky Matt Smith. It used to be the case that they only made men's size Doctor costumes, but I've recently found some 11th Doctor costumes for women! For example, check out the cool jacket above! You can buy a burgundy bow-tie here, which you can pair up with any white shirt and black trousers. The matching burgundy suspenders are available here. Here's an awesome idea for a Halloween costume - characters from the sci-fi masterpiece that is The Matrix! Specifically, it is very easy to put together a costume based on Trinity's outfit, and the end result is super sleek and sexy.

First of all, you will need a black wet-look cat-suit to match Trinity's sexy PVC number from the movie. On the right is a perfect jumpsuit to form the base of your costume, so be sure to check it out.

Once you have the cat-suit, next you need to pick up a replica of her iconic black trench coat. I've included a perfect one at the top of this post. To finish off the look, you can get the matching glasses here and the matching gloves here.

Last but not least, an optional accessory are some seriously gothic boots that look kick-ass. I personally love the stomping Pleaser Electra boots on the left. They are so awesome, and sure to look incredible.

One of my favorite things about the Star Trek reboot is getting to see one of media's most iconic African American characters back on the big screen again - I love Uhura! Even if I'm not a fan of the Spock/Uhura ship, she still kicks ass in my book. Since I've done a Star Wars post already, I'd be betraying my Trekkie instincts not to make some Star Trek costume guides, so here's two cute costumes for all you nerdy girls out there! On the left we have Uhura's costume from the reboot, while on the right we have her look from the original TV series. Both of them look fantastic!

I've also found a cute and easy makeup tutorial for doing the 'cats-eye' sort of makeup effect that Uhura wears in both incarnations. It is very easy to follow and a lot of fun, so I highly recommend watching it if you are planning to dress up as Uhura for Halloween or any other costume event. I hope you have a lot of fun! In anticipation of the upcoming Disney reboot of the Star Wars franchise, here's another fun group costume idea for fancy dress parties and Halloween for all you nerdy chicks out there. I confess to being a Trek girl myself, but even I can admit the costumes in the Star Wars movies are iconic, memorable, and a tonne of fun to dress up with. Here's a guide to all my favorites!

Up above is one of the most famous movie villains of all time, the one and only Darth Vadar, in women's costume form. It comes with everything you need: a sleek and sexy jumpsuit with cape, belt, and mask. There is also a beautiful and cute Darth Vadar dress costume available here. I think a full Vadar helmet looks a lot sweeter than the headpiece that comes with it though, so remember you can pick up a Vadar mask separately here!

If you really want to go all out with either costume, check out this cool Vadar breathing effects generator, so you have constantly have that iconic sound effect playing. Also. Darth Vadar light-saber. You need it. No excuses. 

Every Sith apprentice/master needs an army of Stormtroopers to shoot wildly at the good guys and probably miss with every shot (so don't forget to bring your blaster!). Well, there's a cool Stormtrooper jumpsuit available above on the right. You can get matching go-go boots to complete the look here.

I couldn't write a post on Star Wars costumes for women without including Princess Leia! Hey, now that Star War is owned by Disney, is she now one of the Disney Princesses? I'd vote for that. Anyway, check out the very cute costume above based on her iconic outfit in A New Hope up above, which comes with the slinky and very sexy dress, matching belt, and even the wig. You can get the matching go-go boots here.

The wig makes things easy, but if you want to have a go at styling your own hair in the iconic Leia hairbuns, check out this fun video tutorial on how to do it - note that you will need either very thick hair or hair extensions. 

Just as much as I couldn't do a post on Star Wars costumes without Princess Leia, nor could I forget to mention the ah...slave girl outfit. You know the one. What. It was the 80s. But yes, its skimpy, its sexy, and its a tonne of fun if you have a lot of confidence! The cute version on the right comes with the bikini top, choker, draped skirt, armband and matching headpiece. I highly recommend not choosing this for a winter party.

The prequel movies get a lot of stick, but to be honest I never thought they were that bad. Maybe I was just distracted by all the cool costumes and kick-ass lightsaber duels (Duel of Fates for the win). I always especially liked the costumes of Padme Amidala, mother of Luke and Leia and ever unfortunate love interest of Anakin Skywalker. My favorites were her two costumes in Attack of the Clones, featured above and to the right.
